D-NAVIO Partners Meet in Hamburg to Review Project Progress and Prepare for Maritime Pilot Validation
The second D-NAVIO Project Meeting brought consortium partners together to review technical developments, coordinate ongoing activities, and prepare for the next stages of maritime pilot implementation and validation.
The D-NAVIO consortium held its second project meeting in Hamburg, Germany, hosted by project partner COLUMBIA blue – The Leisure Group. The two-day meeting brought together partners from across Europe to review progress across the project’s work packages, exchange technical insights, and coordinate the next stages of development.
Discussions covered key areas of the project, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity testing, interconnected digital twins, and decision-support capabilities. The meeting also provided an opportunity to review individual partner contributions and align ongoing work with the consortium’s broader objectives.

Reviewing Technical Progress and Platform Development
The first day focused on technical developments and coordination across the project’s work packages.
Topics included AI-driven anomaly detection and risk prediction, cybersecurity testing, interconnected digital twins through the DYNAMO system, and the ongoing co-design and integration of the D-NAVIO platform.
Partners also reviewed developments related to situational awareness and decision support, exploring how different technical components can contribute to more informed operational decision-making.
These activities form part of D-NAVIO’s wider objective to bring together digital twin technologies, artificial intelligence, and risk assessment within an integrated framework for maritime operations.
DIAMATIX’s Contribution to AI-Supported Decision-Making
During the meeting, DIAMATIX’s contribution was highlighted, particularly its ongoing development of a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solution aimed at enhancing AI-driven decision-support capabilities for maritime operations.
Retrieval-Augmented Generation combines information retrieval with generative artificial intelligence, enabling AI systems to use relevant retrieved information when generating responses. This approach can support the development of decision-support tools that provide users with information relevant to their operational context.
Alongside this work, DIAMATIX contributes its expertise in cybersecurity, risk assessment, and digital resilience to the consortium’s collaborative research and development efforts.
Preparing for Pilot Implementation and Validation
The second day of the meeting addressed the project’s next stages, with a focus on reliability assessment, pilot implementation, and evaluation.
The agenda included the analysis and validation of reliability regimes, preparations for pilot use cases involving large passenger and cargo vessels, and planning for the evaluation of pilot results.
These activities are intended to support the assessment of D-NAVIO technologies in representative maritime environments as the project progresses towards practical validation.
The meeting also welcomed the TwinShip consortium, one of D-NAVIO’s synergy projects, for a dedicated presentation and exchange on related research activities and opportunities for further collaboration.
Additional agenda topics included dissemination and communication, networking and synergies, exploitation strategies, and policy recommendations, reflecting the importance of making the project’s research outcomes relevant beyond the consortium.
About the D-NAVIO Project
D-NAVIO (Digital Ship: Mastering Complexity of the Waterborne Digital Transport through “Cloning of the Ship”) is a research and innovation project funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme.
Coordinated by the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), the project brings together 16 partners from seven countries, combining expertise in maritime operations, engineering, artificial intelligence, digital twin technologies, cybersecurity, and risk assessment.
Running from June 2025 to May 2028, D-NAVIO aims to develop an Intelligent Digital Twin system that integrates operational data, predictive analytics, and risk assessment to support safer, more reliable, and sustainable maritime operations.
DIAMATIX is one of the 16 consortium partners, contributing cybersecurity expertise and working on AI-supported decision-making capabilities within the project.
The Hamburg meeting marked another step in the consortium’s ongoing collaboration, connecting technical development with preparations for pilot implementation and validation.
